Edox Ladies watch on chain, hand wind Jewellery & Silver Thu 25th Mar 10
Edox, Swiss watch makers have been established since 1884. They are known for fine quality and for producing the slimmest range of watches. This ladies' watch has an oval face end is suspended on a gold plated chain which measures roughly 68cm long not including the watch. The watch is a hand wind watch and appears to be in fine running order. I must just point out that the watch 'glass' is not glass. I suppose this is for safety purposes if you are wearing it around your neck.
Six matching French Jet buttons Jewellery & Silver Wed 24th Feb 10
This is a matching set of 6 French Jet buttons (black glass). I found them while on a trip to Amsterdam. They are in superb condition. They are flower shaped, but if you look carefully you will see the flower is made up of eight lucky horsehoes. They are extremely attractive and the way the glass is faceted makes them really sparkle when the light hits them. I believe they date from the late 19th or early 20th Century. It is unusual to find six together in such good condition. The reverse of each button has a metal loop attached by which they would have been sewn onto the item of clothing. They would have been quite expensive and probably re-used again and again on different outfits throught the years. They are quite large buttons, so would make quite an impact.
Moss agate brooch, 9ct mount Jewellery & Silver Mon 25th Jan 10
A nicely mounted Moss Agate brooch. It is set in a 9 carat mount with four individually crafted leaves set around it. It is stamped 9ct on the reverse. As well as a pin, it has a loop so that it could be worn as a pendant. It dates from the early part of the 20th Century.
Yew wood Davenport Furniture Mon 11th Jan 10
This is a really lovely item of furniture with neat proportions making it suitable for the modern home. This Davenport was crafted in around 1830 and has been lovingly and sympathetically restored in our workshop. We have left the original leather on it since we feel this reflects a little of it's history. Unusually this Davenport was made totally from Yew wood which has some beautiful figuring and patina. The Davenport is supported on barley twist columns. The desk top opens to reveal a panel of 6 interior drawers in which to store your stationery. The left side of the Davenport is a lockable cupboard with shelf, and the right side boasts a panel of 4 graduated drawers. There is also a pop-out drawer which pivots round to sit alonsgside the desk. This is where you can keep pens. The davenport has its keys.
